If you think all I do is doodle all day, that would be a
flaw in your thinking. I do work
with my kids, it does not take a lot to give them a task, and have them stay on
it. The environment is not as
stressful or ridgid as the treatment center, so I have more time at the
school. On occasion I will prepare
lesson plans, or assist my teacher with the plans. So I am left with a lot of time through my day. It is easier to doodle rather than
write, because when I write, I become so engrossed that it is hard to
multi-task. So I may write a line
or two, but mostly I am watching my boys, and making sure they are staying on
task.
I wanted to put this in my entry because co-workers at my
second job (the treatment center) looks at my notebook and thinks I don’t do
anything all day. And like I
stated, it’s not that I don’t do anything, we have less children, more staff,
and the behaviors are not as severe.
So as I was doodling, on Friday, I started to write a
poem. This poem led to an idea for
a book that I am going to start working on. The idea is a bit different, it is going to include all of
my writing styles and storytelling abilities. I was considering doing a graphic novel, however I would
have to find a artist, then have to collaborate with them…it just seemed like a
bit much. I am not going to post
the poem in type because it will probably end up in the book, but you can read
it on the doodle.
So in conclusion, the doodles are up, enjoy those, and if
you have come across this doodle, please leave a comment, hit me up on facebook

or listen to my spoken word music on soundcloud (http://www.soundcloud.com/poet402)
or, if you really want to support an artist like me, buy a book (http://www.lulu.com/clarencenabraskabarbee)
I have some pretty good, and pretty cheap chapbooks up there for you. Thanks for coming by and enjoy your
life!!!...there is a secret poem after the last doodle....yaayy!!
I doodle with my poodle,
put my day on the page
tryin’ to keep the kids calm
so their rage won’t
ruin their days.
We try to keep it easy,
staff with both jobs are
great,
but at the treatment center
some of the staff
be showin’ entitled hate.
I be keepin’ it easy
dressed to the nine,
Monday thru Wednesday,
I be lookin’ fine.
But when Thursday hit,
I get ready for shit,
literally—
because girls at the treatment center
think they playin’ baseball,
and staff got a catchers mitt.
So I dress down,
put my hair up,
in my hat
holdin’ onto my patience
like parents hold on to their
babies.
I love my life, and you better as well
I’m not a saint, but sometimes it feels
that I work with
demons from hell.
